Art and life have historically been posited at the juncture of imitation. Both their process, self-sustaining and autopoietic, is often entangled in overtones of the aesthetic, the political and the functional. Simply put, when either desecrates, it also marks the birth of newer perspectives and outcomes.
Blueprint 12 @ IAF 2023 is presenting eleven represented artists who utilise various media and experiment across disciplines to create meaningful interventions in the trajectory of existence. The practices together respond to the forces of war, marginalisation, migration and identity reclamation; nationalism, history, fantasies and distortions; religion and feminism; memory, ownership and detachment. The interconnectedness of these seemingly overweighed terminologies coax a dialogic relationship between the art, artist and the viewer. Their repetitive analogies and meditative practices layer the work with appreciation of the physical, mental and emotional labour that goes into creating them. The represented works consciously/subconsciously bring forth narratives from India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, as well as Europe and North America, and engage with what connects and sets them apart from the others.
