The artist of the 21st century is the one that is transcendent, one that transcends conventional wisdom, to transcend the world of the establishment, to transcend the orthodoxy, to go beyond. It is the job of the artist to transcend that - to think outside the boundaries. The transcendent artist takes the role of the citizen artist and is engaged in the political, social and cultural scenario that surrounds him/her. Through various media, mostly performance, sound and mix media, these artists have build networks and currents that surpass the official narratives of the State to question that post colonial identity in a global marketplace and a sense of belonging.
