To Whom It May Concern
15th September -17th September 2016
Alliance Francaise, New Delhi
"Man does not weave this web of life. He is merely strand of it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."
- Chief Seattle
Ajay Lakhera’s first solo exhibition of woven canvases in New Delhi grapples with memories and how they are interwoven with our personal experiences of the past and the present. By taking those fleeting and seemingly insignificant life events, Lakhera incorporates narrative structures that take political and social meanings. Using art as a therapeutic tool to overcome unconfronted past experiences, and using both abstraction and figuration in a coherent union, Lakhera invites the viewer to come up close, and in the process blurring figurative paintings into abstract notions of times gone by.
